First Day of School

My babies on their first day of school.

As I left the school in tears, the one in the pants was on the floor kicking and screaming, wrestling with teachers, and the one in the skirt was giving me a teary-eyed, sad and forlorn look.

When I picked them up from the bus stop, they were all smiles.

Hurricane Irene

We are almost back to before the hurricane. Just our cable is still out. But that is far better to live without than power.

We lost electricity, internet and cable sometime early Sunday morning. We awoke without it. The phone went out sometime in the afternoon.

We got our electricity back on Monday at 2:10. The sump pump hose started spouting water and I ran inside to verify with the lights.

Sometime this morning we got our phone and internet back. The phone rang, which tipped me off. It was a message saying that there were still people in our development that didn't have power and PPL is hoping to have it back on Friday. I don't know why part of Indian Rocks has power and part doesn't, but I am thankful to be in the part that does.

My Servants

Ellie informed me that she and Josh are my servants today. I thought OK, we'll see how long that lasts.

As I sat in my room reading my Bible, I could hear them scurrying about in the kitchen. When I came out, I was admonished to go back in and not look at what they were doing. I heard Josh say, "She can't see the Cheerios."

Now I am sitting having breakfast . . . in bed. They again told me they were my servants and to ask them for whatever I wanted. It's my day off. The only thing I have to do is drive when we go somewhere.

Ellie's popped in my room a couple times asking if I need something. Currently they are saying their own grace and eating a breakfast they got ready.

I like it that the kids are getting more independent. Doing more things for themselves. Part of my job as a parent is to let them slowly have their independence and teach them how to properly behave with it.

And again, no partiular order . . .

In case you haven't figured it out, I really like photographing the lake. And my kids.

Are they looking at me or the lake?

I crack up whenever Josh wears these sunglasses. Maybe you should keep it on hand whenever you need a good laugh.

Notice the worn out name. Buy your table and casket in one shopping trip.

Myrtle, move here.

In no particular order . . .

I think he's a handsome guy. It stands repeating . . .

I think he's a handsome guy.

And he absolutely loves me putting his photo here.

In her excitement, Ellie packed Thursday night for an overnight stay on Saturday with Grammy H.

Time at the beach. Ellie doesn't care for the lake plant life.

The reason I don't cook rice on the stove.

You find these signs everywhere up here.

And this L. Arthur guy owns a lot of land.

Resemblence

My great-grandmother, Anne Rhodes Davey. I think my mother looks like her.

Seven years of being a mom

Elisabeth turns seven. Hard to believe.
I remember when I first held my little peanut.
