My hike

After dropping the kids off at school, I drove to Shuman's Point. If you remember, back in March, we took a family hike there. If you don't remember, you can refresh your memory.

Today, I went by myself. In my new hiking shoes.

We like pizza, so we keep trying

Friday - My dad (happy birthday!) was burning old papers of my grandmothers in the outside fireplace. I suggested to make a wood fire, find a grate and cook our pizza over the open fire. I started mixing the dough around 4:00. I think we were all done cooking pizza around 8:30.

Here are the first and second pizzas. The first one didn't agree with the grate and became a stromboli. We lined the grate with foil and tried again. With a lack of space, the second one became a stuffed crust pizza.

The foil blocked the heat too much. So we tried the stone wear. That worked well.

Turned out that the foil worked better on top. Here is pizza number three.

End of the line. Half of pizza three and pizza four.

And down it goes

I stopped at the lake today. I sure do like taking photos of it and my rock.

PPL needs to do upkeep maintenance on the dam, so they had a controlled water release planned. Then the storms came through.

Before Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee, lake capacity was at 63%. After the storms, it was over 90%. For the past week, they have opened up the spillway to release much of this water, to bring the level back to where it was before. Then they will continue to release water with the generators working, (the dam is a hydroelectric dam) to take it to the needed level for repairs.

Here is the debris line from Hurricane Irene/Tropical Storm Lee.

Here is my favorite rock, nearly all exposed. If you go to this post, you can see a photo where you can't see it at all.

The long expanse of exposed rocks.

I'll be taking more photos as the water continues to decrease. PPL plans to have the lake at the need level for repairs in two weeks.

Frightening?

Josh saw me and ran. And asked that I take it off. And not do it again.

Encouraged to write my story

Today was the first meeting for MOPS. We did a writing exercise. A quick write about our names. We were then encouraged to take time this year and write the storyboard of our lives. Take 3-5 minutes and write, no stopping. Write about a favorite Christmas, a favorite teacher. The birth story of my children, how I met my husband. The list is endless.

I have decided that this school year, I am going to write. I am going to put my life into words. I am excited.

Then maybe someday, I can add photos.

Grilled pizza, again

The previous pizza was actually our second attempt at grilled pizza. The first was partially burnt, the second completely.

Here is a photo of the third. It was just right, crispy. Yummy!

Cute as a button.

(Now really are buttons all that cute? Where did that saying come from anyway?)

GDS Fair

The kids saved their money for many weeks to go to the Greene, Dreher, Sterling fair. They were very excited.

I bought me this hat with my money. Now all I need are cowboy boots.
